What Is Expected Of You During Your Visit?

Enjoy your experience! This is a time for you to relax and appreciate the healing benefits of massage therapy. Follow directions and ask lots of questions. In order to ensure a quality experience, your therapist will speak with you briefly about any special concerns or injuries you have or may have had in the past.

Do not receive massage with fever or a virus.
Be responsible for your proper personal hygiene.

Your therapist will escort you to a room where you will receive your session. Your table will be ready, then the therapist will leave the room to allow you to disrobe to your level of comfort. Be sure to wait until therapist has closed the door before beginning to disrobe. After disrobing to your comfort level lay on the table and cover yourself with the top sheet and towel. Your therapist is trained not only in various types of bodywork but in the proper technique of body draping with two sheets and a towel for extra coverage. Breasts and genitalia are required to be covered at all times and are never massaged. Your therapist is trained to respect your boundaries; please also respect theirs. Our therapists are also instructed on bodywork techniques for clients who prefer not to disrobe. All levels of dress are acceptable according to modality.

Remember: Ask Lots of Questions!

Communicate with your therapist about the massage. Ask lots of questions! Remember that your therapist wants to make this the best massage for you. Each person likes different things and that can even vary each time you get a massage. If you really like something let them know. If something bugs you whether it’s the music or they stroke they are doing let them know. Nobody wants a massage that doesn’t feel good. Let them know! They will only know when to make pressure or stroke adjustments to your comfort on each section they work on if you talk to them. If you have to tighten your muscles, even if it feels good, it is too deep. If it feels extra good, there are lots of toxins that need worked on.

They don’t know so tell them.

At the completion of your session, your therapist will leave the room again, giving you privacy once more to get dressed or collect yourself. After a great massage remember to tell your friends. Are There Ever Side Effects?

Yes. There can be. CONTACT US if you experience side effects. Some are pleasant and some are not. Signs of detoxification can include but are not limited to: relaxation, mood changes, increased thirst, rashes, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and lightheadedness. Many clients rarely experience negative side effects but they’re not uncommon and generally viewed as a very positive sign the body is cleansing and detoxifying. They can range quite a bit from person to person with some only experiencing one and others more symptoms of cleansing. It is important to pay attention to your body signals and stay in touch with your therapist so you are both aware of the rate of detoxification of the body. If you are detoxifying too quickly, allowances and suggestions can be made for dealing with the symptoms appropriately. Adjustments in frequency of sessions can be made too.

Can I Make The Benefits Last Longer?

This is a popular question! The best answer our clients have reported is: “Do your homework assignments and regular daily stretching.” Your therapist can give you more specific details for your specific situation and show you the best stretches for your needs, and drink plenty of water in proper proportion to your body. I have a favorite Yoga DVD I do at home when I don’t have time to go to a class and it has made all the difference in the world for me. I have a fused back and was told I would have to see a chiropractor for the rest of my life just to maintain normal daily activity. If I do my yoga every day I have gone from needing 4-8 visits a month to…well, I can’t really remember the last time I went! Make sure you are doing your part and the benefits of your massages can go from just lasting a day or two to stretching out to a week or more. Why Is a Clinically Focused Massage So Much Better?

There is a world of difference in the benefits and effects between the spa/luxury massage and a clinical massage.
